# Parrot > Parrot is a meeting recorder for your Mac with a live AI assistant built in. It notices when a call starts, suggests answers from your own documents while you're still talking, and remembers every call so you can ask about it later. The audio stays on your Mac. Free and open source. This file lists the pages on openparrot.app that answer the usual questions about Parrot. The source code, releases and issues live on GitHub. Parrot here is the Mac meeting recorder, not Parrot Security OS or Parrot drones. ## Key facts - **What it is:** A meeting recorder for Mac with a live AI assistant. It transcribes calls, names the speakers, suggests answers from your own documents during the call, and writes a report after. - **Price:** Free. No account, no paid plan. If you add your own keys for cloud AI, you pay those providers directly. - **Licence:** Open source under GPL-3.0. Source: https://github.com/turantekin/Parrot - **Platform:** macOS 14 or later on Apple Silicon (M1 or newer). No Windows or Linux version. - **Meeting bot:** None. It records the sound your Mac already plays and hears, so it works with Zoom, Google Meet, Teams or a phone on speaker. - **Privacy:** Transcription, speaker detection and your documents run on your Mac. Audio leaves only if you pick Groq or Deepgram for transcription. No telemetry. - **AI models:** For the assistant and reports: Claude, a local model through Ollama, or any OpenAI-compatible server. For transcription: Whisper or Parakeet (faster, 25 European languages) on your Mac, Groq or Deepgram. - **Works with AI apps:** Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and Codex can read your meetings on your Mac once you turn it on. Read-only. - **Made by:** Uygar Turantekin, London. Contact: squawk@openparrot.app - **Latest version:** 0.29.7, released 16 October 2026.
